Dear sponsor
It is a pleasure for us to share with you some news about SOS Children's Village Alexandria where your sponsored child lives.

Our SOS family didn't receive any new children during the last year. On the other hand three of our girls got married and left the village while another two signed only their marriage contract but still live in the village. We want to take the chance to thank a generous sponsor who made a nice wedding party to one of these girls in a hotle in Alexandria and invited all her SOS family. It was really a marvelous day and all the guests wished to the couple a happy marriage

Thank God, there were no major health problems that our children faced during the last period. In addition to the general cases of flue, stomach-ache and toothache, some of the little kids werer ill with cavities and gingivitis but after receiving treatment, they have recovered. One of the boys suffered from a hole inside his ear and he had to undergo an operation but we consulted another E.N.T. doctor who prescribed him new medicines. The boy began to be better and maybe he will not be in need for that operation. In addition, we made urine and stole analysis to all the children in the village and the results were good.

We welcomed at the beginning of the year the General Secretary of SOS Kinderdorf International who spent a day in the village. He spoke with the elder children about the opening day of Alexandria village and all his memories of this day.

There was a generous invitation from a five star hotel in Cairo on Mother's Day to all our mothers from the three villages with two children from every family to attend a party that was held on this occation. At the end of this party the chosen "Best Mother" of every village was rewarded with a price and a certificate of appreciation. The children from each village that attended the event honoured their mothers with special performances, songs and dances. Furthermore there was a celebration for all the mothers in the village when the children decorated the houses and made cakes for their mothers to celebrate this event.

Thanks for the generosity of one of the local companies in Alexandria that provided the village with a pump to improve the sewage system especially in winter when there is a lot of rain. In addition they provided also all the children with summer clothes. Morever one of the donors brought sport shoes to all the children and another one offered three thousands egg to all the houses in the village.

On the twentythird of June the famous Egyptian footballplayer and FIFA for SOS Children's Village Ambassador "Mahmoud El Khatib" held a sport day in the village. Parts of this day and interviews with El Khatib and some of the SOS employees were broadcasted on TV afterwards.

As for the school results, most of the children succeeded in their final exams. Only few of them had to re-sit for some subjects in August. Hence supporting lessons were offered during summer to help them to improve their levels. They did well in their exam and< have already been transferred to the next grade. The school year started again in October and nowdays all the children are studying hard. The first term examinations will be at the beginning of Januari 2005, and therefore they have to do their best in it.

As every year in the fasting month of Ramadan, there were many invitations for dinner outside the village to all the SOS families. This year there was a great invitation from one of the local donors for all the children to spend a day in El Montaza Garden and have dinner in a restaurant there. After dinner, an oriental show was presented and the children danced and sang with music. The end of Ramadan is marked by the celebration of the Lesser Bairam Feast. In this three-day feast all the children enjoyed their time in a big party with a puppet show and a DJ that was held in a famous club in Alexandria. As well the children had lunch together in an armed force club and played in its amusement park all day.

To finish we hope that our news have fullfilled your expectations and we would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

With kind regards
